Planting Our Legacy: Maxicare’s Tree-Planting Initiative Takes Root in Antipolo

08/22/2025

In celebration of Maxicare’s 38th anniversary this year, Maxicare, MaxiHealth, and MaxiLife, embarked on a meaningful tree-planting activity themed “Planting Our Legacy.” Held in partnership with the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Rizal and the People’s Organization of Antipolo, the initiative reinforced the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability, employee volunteerism, and community engagement.

Over 60 employees helped plant 200 seedlings of the Philippines’ national tree, Narra, in a designated reforestation area in San Jose, Antipolo, symbolizing Filipinos’ strength and resilience. This effort aligns with the DENR’s broader reforestation goals to combat climate change while restoring biodiversity in the region.

Maxicare’s Chief Human Resources Officer Joe Buot officially opened the event and inspired the employees present to “continue planting our legacy of being the best benefits solutions provider in the country.”

Chief Health Network Management Officer Elizabeth Gregorio also rolled up her sleeves alongside volunteers, demonstrating the Executive Leadership Team’s hands-on support.

The activity was more than an environmental endeavor – it was a testament to the power of teamwork. Employees from across the three business units bonded over shovels and saplings, embodying the company’s core values, Malasakit (Compassion) for the environment and future generations, and Collaboration across teams and partner organizations

The tree-planting activity reminded us that growth is a collective effort. Just like in healthcare, every small action leads to a greater impact.

As Maxicare celebrates 38 years of service, this tree-planting activity marks the beginning of an enduring green legacy. These trees will stand as living symbols of our promise to protect both people and the planet.

The tree planting activity is under the collaborative efforts of the Labor Management Council, Lifestyle Circle, and the HR team of Maxicare, MaxiHealth, and MaxiLife.
